Telecontrol Systems + loT

LoRa® wireless technology (loT)

The "Internet of Things" ("IoT") is a widely used term in communication technology. Information from miniaturized sensors ("things") is collected worldwide and made available on private or public cloud systems. This enables new types of services and business models.

Various communication standards and technologies are available to transmit information securely and reliably. Sotronik relies, among others, on LoRa® wireless technology, which offers significant advantages over other technologies:

  • Up to 15km range
  • Low infrastructure costs
  • Internet connection with LoRaWAN® possible
  • Reliable transmission (GSM network-independent)
  • "low-cost" and "low-power" technology (very long battery life possible)
  • Encrypted, bidirectional transmission (can be used for sensors/actuators)
  • uses internationally free frequency bands (e.g. the 868 MHz band in Europe)
  • Private network operation possible (as an alternative to the public LoRaWAN® network providers)

Sotronik can offer optimal support in the realization of IoT products thanks to our know-how in the embedded sector and experience from IoT projects.

Telecontrol Systems (from device to visualization)

Sotronik implements customer-specific telecontrol systems based on secure Internet connections, which can be operated with or without additional devices (gateways).

In several projects, Sotronik has integrated the necessary communication software directly into the existing customer firmware and thus realized a solution that generates no additional costs per end device and can be operated with very high performance.

Where direct integration into an end device is not possible, Sotronik's communication software is implemented in OEM gateways.

Systems and devices with an integrated Sotronik solution can thus be accessed via customer-specific smartphone/tablet APPs (OS-independent) and via standard web browsers for PCs.

Sotronik offers partial and complete solutions that include all necessary packages, from the device to cloud or company web servers to APP visualization. We differentiate between telecontrol systems with and without a central web server ("data hub").

Direct Remote Access (without web server control center)

With the cloud solution from our IoT partner nabto, we provide our customers with secure, direct and therefore high-performance remote access to their devices and systems. nabto remote access works without an intermediate data server and is therefore particularly low-maintenance and cost-effective.

User management can be implemented directly on the end device using an intelligent pairing procedure. This means that the solution does not require central user data storage and therefore complies with all applicable data protection regulations without any further action.

Indirect Remote Access (with web server control center)

This solution is favored by customers who are interested in the central collection of device data and also want to offer their end customers remote Internet access. In this case, the web server center acts as a "data hub" and also includes user administration.
